TRILOGY | Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

This review has been a long time coming because I wanted to give this a long trail as it is one of those kinds of products that you will not be seeing big results instantly. Trilogy is a highly regarded skincare brand that creates natural products at really affordable prices, I pick up the Certified Organic Rosehip Oil from Farmers for only $23.90 [20ml] and I can see this bottle lasting a long time as you only need a few drops to do the job each day.

Rosehip oil has many benefits to the skin, mostly in reducing scars, stretch marks and adding hydration to the skin, which in turn helps with the overall aging and appearance of the skin. The only ingredient in this Trilogy oil is 100% rosa cannina seed oil aka. rosehip.

I had never used an oil on my face before as I have oily/combo skin so I naively thought why put oil on an already oily face?! But reading more into it, it seems that oils on the skin can work wonders -  for all skin types! At first, I was a bit apprehensive as I get quite a few breakouts and this says to not use on broken skin, but the website informed me that you can use it on blemished skin. I use this on the days where my skin is a bit clearer with only small breakouts (which has thankfully been more often lately!).

After cleansing, and toning my skin at night I will use this in place of my night moisturiser and use up to 3 drops and massage it all over my face and down my neck as well. The oil has a very bright orange/yellow colour and has a similar fluidity to olive oil. It is easy to massage in and sinks into the skin quickly. I find using it at night works most effectively as that is when your skin is doing all of the good repairing work and in the morning my skin feels amazingly soft and just looks well nourished and moisturised. I try and use this every second or third day and it doesn't break me out (I was a bit scared that it might) and does my skin the world of good. You can use this oil morning and night if you want and also all over your body as it would work great on stretch marks and other scarring on the body.

Using this in conjunction with my other skincare routines has really reduced the appearance of older acne scars on my face and I can see with continued use this is only going to help fade and reduce the appearance of newer scarring. I think that it helps the turn over with the healing of blemishes as well and reduces the initial scarring down as well.

If you have not delved into the oils, it is well worth trying if you suffer from dark spots, or have acne scarring from teenage years. With regular use it helps to hydrate the skin, making it appear fresher and clearer. You can buy this from Farmers and pharmacies or straight from the Trilogy website. It is NZD $23.90 for the 20ml, or $39.90 for the 45ml. The 20ml bottle has lasted me a long time and it is still going strong.

What are your thoughts for oils on the skin? Have you tried other Trilogy products, or the Rosehip oil? As always, let me know in the comments.
