VIOLET BOX NZ // June '14 - Unboxing + Initial Thoughts - cassandramyee

Yesterday I shared my end of month review for the May Violet Box, which had some hits but also a couple of misses so I am excited to see what this June box will bring. If you are new to these parts, Violet Box is a monthly subscription box service based in NZ and Australia where you pay $25 plus $4.50 a month to receive at least 5 deluxe samples. Often times there is at least 1 full sized product; in this box there are 3 full sized products, 2 deluxe samples and 1 sample sachet, so on first impressions I am pretty pleased!

PRODUCT 001. Goldwell StyleSign Sleek Perfection Thermal Spray Serum for Straight Hair // [Full Size RRP $26.95 (100ml)]
This is a really generous sized thermal heat spray and will be the perfect size to travel with. I've not heard about this brand before, but this particular spray is designed to be used on dry hair before using straighteners to protect from the heat and keep the hair looking silky and straight for longer. This sounds right up my alley so I look forward to using it.

PRODUCT 002. Red Carpet Kolour Body Glow in Medium [Full Size RRP $54.95 (150ml)]
This is one of the smaller samples, in a one use sachet. The product is an all-over body glow that adds colours that won't transfer onto clothes. It seems to be along the lines of the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, like makeup for your body, which washes off after one use. The full sized bottle seems very expensive, so hopefully it will live up to the price!

PRODUCT 003. Chella Luscious Light Brown Eyebrow Color // [RRP $22.00]
I was very excited to see this brow pencil in the box as I am loving trying out different products for the brows. It is a very slim pencil, so it should work well to shape and define while not looking too harsh and the colour looks about right for my brows.

PRODUCT 004. John Plunkett Cosmeceuticals Essentials Anti-Aging Super Wrinkle Cream // [Full Size RRP $29.95 (50ml)]
The first thing I noticed is that this is designed for dry skin which is definitely not me, so hopefully this won't be too rich or thick for my oily skin. This is an overnight cream enriched with vitamin C and E to help the skin recover and rejuvenate. Although I don't have many wrinkles at the moment, this could be nice to keep them at bay.

PRODUCT 005. John Plunkett Essentials Glyco Peel Night-time Exfoliator // [RRP $29.95 (15ml)]
This is probably the product I am most looking forward to trying as I have never used a glycolic acid peel before. It is designed for all skin types and is applied at night, after cleansing and before moisturising and it promises to transform the skin by reducing fine lines and surface discoloration. I can't wait to get this one on my face!

PRODUCT 006. Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Shadow Quad in Madrid // [RRP $22.50]
The last item was one I knew was coming due to the sneak peak we were given on last months card, and I am so happy with the shade range I got in this Madrid quad. The brand is one I have never heard of, or tried and after some Googling it is a USA based brand that don't ship out internationally. The packaging feels a little cheap and as you can see in the second picture the actual pan is loose and it keeps falling out. Despite that the colours are nice and ones that I know I will use and the pigmentation doesn't seem bad at all!

I am excited about the June box, as it has a good mix of skincare and makeup, with some generous samples and full sized products. The overall total of the items in this box is approx. $92 - great value considering what I paid for it.

Did you get the June Violet Box? What products would you want to try, or looking forward to using?
